Duke of Edinburgh - Open Silver Expendition 2025

The Education People are excited to offer participants undertaking their Silver DofE Award the opportunity to undertake their DofE Expedition Training and Expeditions with us.

Our Silver Expedition Package consists of two events: -

·           Training/Practice Expedition
This will be a three-day event. Participants will spend the first day at the Base campsite undertaking the training required for the expedition section. Days two and three will see participants undertaking a two-day Practice Expedition.

·           Assessed Expedition
This will be a three-day event. Participants will undertake a three-day expedition during which they will be assessed to ensure they meet the conditions of the Silver Expedition section.

Dates
We are offering the following dates for both Practice and Assessed expeditions during 2025: -

·         20 – 22 October 2025 - Ashdown Forest

We are offering the following dates for both Practice and Assessed expeditions during 2026: -

·         11 – 13 April 2026 – Ashdown Forest

·         26 – 28 May 2026 – South Downs

·         18 – 20 July 2026 – Ashdown Forest

·         25 – 27 July 2026 – Ashdown Forest

·         29 – 31 July 2026 – Ashdown Forest

·         17 – 19 August 2026 – Ashdown Forest

·         26 – 28 October 2026 – Ashdown Forest

All expeditions will be based in either the Ashdown Forest Area or the South Downs area.

Our Ashdown Forest expeditions start at our base camp venue – Adamswell Scout Campsite, Broom Lane, Langton Green, TN3 9JL. Collection will be from a car park on Ashdown Forest.
Our South Downs expeditions will start at South Hill Barn car park, Chyngton Ln N, Seaford BN25 4JQ. We have access to a neighbouring campsite as our base camp venue. Collection will be from a car park also in the Seaford area.

For those participants who want to complete back-to-back Practice and Assessed expeditions, we have the option of doing your practice 25 – 27 July and then Assessed 29 July – 31 July. We have deliberately built in a rest day to give participants a free day on 28 July to prepare themselves for their assessed expedition.

Cost
The cost of each event is: -

• 2025 - £150 per expedition event
• 2026 - £195 per expedition event.

The hire of all Group Kit (tents, stoves, gas, maps, compasses etc) is included in the expedition cost. We are also able to lend rucksacks to participants requiring them.

Please note that these are OPEN expeditions and each event is subject to a minimum number of applications being received.
