Duke of Edinburgh - Hammerwood Residential April 2026

The Education People are delighted to offer Gold DofE participants the opportunity to undertake their Residential section with us, working in partnership with the management team of Hammerwood Scout Campsite this April.
During the residential we will be working with the team at Hammerwood to complete tasts which will include:

  • clearing invasive species from the sites Ancient woodland
  • clearning areas of the site to improve camping areas
  • campsite and building improvements
  • clearing waterways.

Hammerwood Scout Campsite is located on the Hammerwood Estate near East Grinstead. The site is largely woodland with a number of clearings where groups can camp. The site is run entirely by volunteers.

Although we will be working at Hammerwood Scout, we will be camping at the nearby Adamswell Scout Campsite near Tunbridge Wells, as the facilities at Hammerwood are limited with no showers etc. We will travel between the sites each day (transport provided). Accommodation will be camping but we will have access to a building at both our venues to shelter from poor weather etc.

The residential will take place from Saturday 11 April 2026 - Wednesday 15 April 2026. Participants must attend all five days to complete their Residential section.

The total cost of this activity is £290 per participant. This includes all accommodation, all meals for the Residential, and evening activities.
The residential is open to all participants completing their Gold DofE Award and particpants must have enrolled at Gold level before attending the programme.

Participants should note that The Education People have a policy that alcohol, smoking or drugs are not permitted to be consumed at any point during this residential. A zero-tolerance approach will be taken to this at all times.

Places are strictly limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
